The first step is to arrange a consultation.
Sessions last 50 minutes for individuals and 60 minutes for couples.
This first meeting gives us the opportunity to meet each other, talk about your hopes and expectations of therapy, and for me to explain my approach and the terms under which I work.
Attending a first session does not commit you to ongoing therapy. It allows you the space to decide whether you feel we could work together.
Should you decide to continue, we would arrange a regular time for therapy to take place. This is usually at the same time each week, although exceptions can be considered.
Psychotherapy is typically an open-ended process, meaning there is no set number of sessions. You are free to end therapy at any point. However, I would usually encourage a conversation before ending, to ensure you feel supported through that process.
